Kevin led us to Ben Macdui and made us see some truly breathtaking views of the Cairngorm plateau that you don't get if you only stay on the classic trail. He knows the area like the back of his hand, and we felt safe all the time while having a lot of fun. Kevin also explained to us many interesting things about the geology, biology and language history of the Cairngorms and Scotland. We'd definitely hire him again for an outdoor adventure.

Kevin was a great guide and teacher. He gave my 14-year-old son a day of hiking and navigation skills in the Cairngorms, managing to keep a teenager motivated and entertained the whole day. My son came away enthralled by the experience. For a father and adult, Kevin is also a pleasure to spending time hiking, always chatty and full of interesting stories and advice. All in all, highly recommended.

Came up to Scotland to do the NC500 and wanted a day walk that wasn't too tough as we aren't very skilled hikers. We received a phone call the day after enquiring so we could fully talk about everything we wanted from the walk and what would be most fun for us.
We ended up going up a beautiful trail, and the whole time never saw anyone else. Kevin was an amazing guide, always giving us tips on how to manage our time and equipment better as well as giving us lots of knowledge on different things.
It was a lovely day and we are certainly glad we did it! Everything was done to an incredibly high standard and it was such an enjoyable day. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

I had a fantastic day out with Kevin from Walk North on Ben Shieldaig, learning about navigation in the mountains. I learnt so much in one day and was inspired to take it to the next level. Kevin is a great instructor.

Kevin is a caring mountaineering leader, passionate about nature. He was aware of my uncertainties before we started and with his experience and great teaching skills, he set expectations on what would come ahead and how to behave. From there on I felt comfortable and safe. The weather was quite changeable - as it is in the highlands, and as we progressed Kevin pointed out possibilities. When we reached the pass, we decided to go for the shorter but steeper way: Tom a’ Chòinnich, my first Munro in the highlands!
I really enjoyed learning about the flora, fauna, as well as the hills and streams in the surroundings with their Gaelic names and meaning! The pleasant company just added up. I am used to hiking on solid mostly marked paths in the Alps and walking long distances on mossy/boggy ground I was a little out of my comfort zone. Thus, I am grateful for this unique experience and can only recommend Walk North!

Walk North planned a fantastic day out on the Cairngorm Plateau taking me to the summit of Scotland’s 2nd highest mountain, Ben Macdui. Kevin’s extensive knowledge of the area was incredible, navigating off path to the most scenic viewpoints on the plateau that I would otherwise not have seen from the trails. I really appreciated Kevin’s attention to detail, his wealth of wisdom on the variety of the plateau’s plant life and geology was a great addition as without his excellent company I would not have known so much about the area he guided me through. I always felt comfortable and safe under Kevin’s leadership during the walk. Walk North is the best place to book for those seeking adventure in the highlands, I could not recommend more!

I booked a day of navigation training with Kevin in the Cairngorms and his choice of location and route was perfect, taking me to beautiful areas which were perfectly suited to the task. Kevin's experience as a teacher shines through in his clear and patient tuition. I had a superb day and learned loads. I would thoroughly recommend Walk North to anyone wishing to spend quality time in the hills.
